Anika Braun

Anika Braun is a senior lecturer at the Department of Engineering Geology at the Institute of Applied Geosciences at Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. She obtained her BSc and MSc in Georesources Management in 2008 and 2010, as well as her PhD in Engineering Geology in 2015 at RWTH Aachen, Germany. From 2015 to 2018, she completed a PostDoc at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China, holding grants of the CAS PIFI fellowship and the NSFC.

In her research, Anika focuses on different types of mass movements, using a wide range of field, modelling, and remote sensing techniques. She has studied mass movements in international training schools, research collaborations, and research projects in several countries including Germany, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, China, Honduras, Cameroon, and Colombia.

Besides her activity in the SC-DRR, representing INQUA, Anika is engaging in the scientific community as the secretary of the German Engineering Geology Section and in the early career chapter of the German Geotechnical Society. She is also country representative for Germany with the Young Engineering Geologists (YEGs) in the International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG).
